I am assuming that this in an “S” ? And if so, can it be made “FP” ?
      Thanks

Yes, this recipe is an “S”. And I don’t see anyway this recipe could be an “FP”. I wish. I would probably eat it everyday if it was! 🙂

Hi Brenda, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Yes, that needed clarifying. I updated the post, but here is the updated info. “Can be stored in a covered container on counter for a couple of days or refrigerated for up to 5 days.”

Is there a substitution option for the palm shortening? I don’t need dairy free

Hi Kerry, Briana Thomas has a vanilla frosting that is not dairy-free that you might try. You can find it on her Zucchini Bar post.

Hi Michelle, yes, I’ve been able to find it in our local grocery stores. Hopefully, it will be available where you are too. If not, you might ask to see if they would start carrying it.

Hi! Do you find that this frosting leaves a waxy feeling in the mouth because of the palm shortening?

Hi Joy, I don’t know that I would call it waxy, but it does have a slightly different feel than icing made with dairy. I wish there was something that we could make that was exactly like dairy based frosting but this is a lovely alternative.

This looks good! Have you used this as a base to make chocolate or peanut butter frosting?

Is this full fat canned coconut milk or just the carton kind?

Can you tell me what the coconut flour adds to this frosting? I’m on the hunt for a dairy free frosting and I plan to try yours out – thanks!

It thickens it a bit, like giving it some body.

Do you taste the coconut from the flour and oil?

No, it’s not noticeable. And you can use refined coconut oil that does not have any coconut taste.

how much does this make? I came here from your strawberry shortcake recipe and was hoping to make the whole thing. how much of everything should I use for the cake and layers? Also what is thm-s and fp?

THM stands for Trim Healthy Mama and the s and fp are ways that they categorize meals. My early recipes fit into that diet plan.

This recipe makes a little over one cup and it should make enough for the shortcake. You could double the recipe if you prefer.
