You’ll be able to have a hearty and savory supper in just minutes with this easy Cabbage and Sausage Recipe made in an Instant Pot.
Sausage and Cabbage Recipe
With this sausage and cabbage recipe, I use a bag of coleslaw instead of a head of cabbage to make this recipe extra simple to make. Using an Instant Pot I can put all the ingredients in and tend to other things while it cooks. If you love easy one-pot meals you may also love my Farmhouse Beans & Sausage Instant Pot recipe too.
Simple Ingredients:
I use all gluten-free ingredients in this recipe, but if you don’t need it to be gluten-free simply use your favorite brands.
- 16 oz package smoked sausage, gluten-free (I use gluten-free smoked sausage but if you aren’t eating gluten-free just choose your favorite smoked sausage.)
- 4 russet potatoes
- 16 oz. bag of coleslaw, using a bag of coleslaw makes prep time even quicker.
- 2 cups chicken broth, gluten-free
- 1 medium onion
- 4 oz can of diced chiles
- 1 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt, gluten-free (My favorite is Herbamare)
How to Make Sausage and Cabbage in an Instant Pot
- Slice smoked sausage into bite-size pieces.
- Peel and dice potatoes into 1-inch cubes.
- Dice onion.
- Place chicken broth, cut up smoked sausage, potatoes, onions, can of chopped chiles, seasoned salt into the Instant Pot, and then top with the bag of coleslaw.
- Seal the lid on the Instant Pot and close the vent. Set the manual setting for 3 minutes.
- After cooking is done do a quick release with the valve and then remove the lid. Stir to combine and serve.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
