Smothered pork chops are often made on the stovetop, but I like to make a good-sized portion of gravy, so I put the chops and gravy together in a casserole dish and bake it in the oven for the last step in cooking.

This was delicious! We’ve recently transitioned to a dairy free house hold and previously used a cream soup or just cream for smothering chops. This was a great recipe! My husband was surprised it was so good without the cream! Thank you!

I added more seasoning for the gravy and broth….Not sure why my gravy still came out so thick…looks nothing like the picture.

Made this for the first time and plan to make it regularly. I tripled the recipe because I cut a pork loin into chops and ended up with 12. Didn’t have paprika so used a little bit of chili powder.

Can corn starch be substituted for the flour? I use it to make gravy and it turns out delicious.

Yes, you can substitute with cornstarch. I would suggest 3-4 tablespoons of cornstarch.

Judging by the dates, above, Iโ€™m late finding this delicious recipe!! I followed all directions except I used vegetable broth instead of chicken and I used HEB organic gluten free flour. Despite those changes, it worked beautifully. Easy and effective. Thank you!!!

Another delicious recipe from MamaShire! I used thick bone-in chops and added sliced mushrooms and sautรฉed them along with the onions and garlic. Cooked it mostly on the stove bc my oven was otherwise occupied. Just put it in the over for 20 minutes or so.
