These smoothies and frosties are so yummy and refreshing and work perfectly with Trim Healthy Mama!  I have eight different flavors to share with you and I added one more at the end for fun.

  • These smoothies and frosties call for  glucomannan. If you aren’t used to using glucomannan, it’s a healthy starch that is very low carb and adds a thickening, light creamy texture to the shake. I haven’t seen it in stores yet, but you can find it on Amazon. You can make these drinks without it, but you’ll lose a little of the creamy effect and since we’re doing this dairy free we need all the creaminess we can get. I have read where xanthan gum could be used as a substitute, but I haven’t tried that personally. Either Now Glucomannan or THM Glucomannan would work well.
  • The added collagen in this drink gives you a good amount of protein to help make this a more satisfying snack. THM Integral Collagen or Custom Collagen works well in this recipe. It’s also great for your skin and joints.

This humble little squash looks pretty plain, but inside it’s full of amazing strands of spaghetti shaped squash. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is serving it with a spaghetti sauce and meatballs! I’ve been enjoying Good Girl Moonshines for awhile now, but I know that some of you might be struggling a little to like it. So, I thought to help everyone out, I’d put together a Good Girl Moonshine Recipe Roundup of some of the most popular variations for “GGMS” and some tips and tricks to making this a drink that you will love.

This drink has been around for years, its often been called Haymaker’s Punch or Switchel, but Pearl and Serene from Trim Healthy Mamas coined it’s newest name, Good Girl Moonshine. It’s a wonderful all-day sipper that helps keep you hydrated and nourishes your body with it’s healthy ingredients.

This drink is a perfect substitution for sodas! It has a pleasant zing and can keep the “snack attacks” away.

Here are a few items to help make your Good Girl Moonshine:

Baobab powder – I’ve been adding a about 1/2 teaspoon for my GGMS for added Vit. C boost. I think it really adds a nice flavor too. You can get it on Amazon or at the THM website.

Ginger

Apple Cider Vinegar with the “mother”

Stevia – THM Stevia Extract or my favorite Now Better Stevia

Metal straws – not absolutely necessary, (who am I kidding, in my house they are.)

Tips and Tricks for making Good Girl Moonshine:

  • If you aren’t sure if you like the taste of ginger, just put a few shakes of powdered ginger in your drink and then slowly adjust it over time to get up to a teaspoon of it in your drink. Read about the health benefits of ginger here.
  • Use raw apple cider vinegar “with the mother” like Bragg Organic ACV. You should be able to find it in your local grocery store. Since apple cider vinegar is rather tart, start off with the smaller amount and work your way up to get used to it.
  • When drinking apple cider vinegar throughout the day it’s best to use straws. It helps keep the acid from the ACV off of your teeth. Our favorite straws are these metal straws or plastic straws. The metal straws come with a wire cleaner, but for the plastic straws I use this straw cleanerACV can actually whiten your teeth, but should be rinsed off.   • If you’d like your GGMS to be fizzier you can add carbonated water or sparkling water to your recipe.
