Easy Sweet Rice Recipe (Dairy-Free)

With this Instant Pot Sweet Rice Recipe, you’ll be able to add this tasty side dish to your meals with ease.



2 cups long grain white rice
2 cups water
¾ cup almond milk
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon salt


Place rice in a mesh strainer and rinse under cool running water until the water runs clear.

Place water and rinsed rice in the Instant Pot and close the lid and set the venting knob to seal. Use the manual mode and set for 3 minutes. Allow for natural release for 10 minutes and then remove the lid. Fluff with a fork.

Set to saute mode and add almond milk, brown sugar, and salt to the rice. Stir to combine. Continue stirring for a few minutes until it thickens and gets creamy. 

Remove from pan and serve. Add to the table a small bowl of brown sugar in case anyone wants a little extra on their rice. 


Use a regular measuring cup to measure the rice and water, not the plastic cup that comes with the Instant Pot. It isn’t a full cup.
