Description

The combination of sweet, juicy apples, a hint of spice, and a crunchy topping makes this gluten-free apple crisp irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs Granny Smith apples
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup gluten-free flour
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup dairy-free butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.  Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples. You should have around 8 cups.
  3. Spread the sliced apples out in the casserole dish.
  4. Mix the sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the apples.
  5. Melt the dairy-free butter over low heat. Once melted, add it to the gluten-free flour and brown sugar and mix until combined. Crumble this over the apples.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

I used Granny Smith apples in this recipe; you could also use a combination of Gala, Golden Delicious, and Granny Smith.

Gluten-Free Flour: I use Pamela’s 1-1 Gluten-Free Four.

Dairy-Free Butter: I like Country Crock Plant-Based Butter with avocado oil. If you don’t need this to be dairy-free, use real grass-fed butter.
