  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2/3 cup ketchup (gluten-free & no high fructose corn syrup)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce (Lea & Perrins)

Instructions

  1. Finely dice the onion. Seed and finely dice the green bell pepper. Set aside.
  2. Mince the garlic cloves. Set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat add the ground beef, onions, and green bell pepper. Cook until the ground beef is no longer pink. Break it up as it cooks with a spatula or meat chopper.
  4. Add in the minced garlic and continue to cook for another minute.
  5. Next add in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, tomato paste, mustard, chili powder, and Worcestershire sauce and stir to combine. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve over gluten-free hamburger buns.
  7. Pro tip: Butter buns with butter or non-dairy butter and toast in a skillet before making the sandwiches.
