Quick and easy to make!

Peach Good Girl Moonshine is so delightful and refreshing. It’s a perfect summertime drink and the only thing you need to go along with it is…..a hammock or an ENO. Have you seen ENOS? They are a type of hammock that you can put up anywhere. We were able to visit with some dear friends over the 4th of July and they were telling us about their new ENOS and how much fun they were having with them. I seriously want one… or four.

Picture this peachy, ice-cold drink in a hammock with good company or a good book. Or maybe, with just the good company on the back porch.

Not only is this drink delicious, it’s an all-day sipper!  All-day sippers are drinks that don’t have any fuel that your body would need to burn or store. No fat, no carbs, no protein. Just refreshing goodness and good for you ingredients!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 Peach Passion tea bags (Celestial Seasonings)
  • 2 tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon Now Better Stevia or a couple of "donks" of THM Stevia Extract
  • 2 pinches of ginger, add additional amount to suite your taste
  • ice and more water
Instructions
  1. Steep tea bags in 1 cup of hot water in quart jar for 5-10 minutes. Remove tea bags and add apple cider vinegar, stevia, and ginger. Give it a good stir and then add ice and water to fill jar.

A new twist on an old favorite – Root Beer Float becomes a White Root Beer Frosty featuring Zevia Ginger Root Beer!

Recently Zevia started making their drinks clear – no caramel coloring!

Zevia sodas don’t contain sugar, use non-GMO ingredients, and contains no phosphoric acid! Yay! You can read more about Zevia’s ingredients on their website. I’ve been able to find Zevia’s at my local grocery store and they are often on sale! Zevia’s Zero Calorie Sodas are making my sugar-free life a little easier.

  • This recipe calls for collagen, it’s optional to add in, but it does add protein and makes this treat much more nutritious. My favorite brands are THM’s Integral Collagen or Custom Collagen through Amazon, since this isn’t an item that is normally at your local grocery store you would need to order it, it’s just a matter of where you like to order from.
  • The glucomannan gives this treat a creamier texture. And again I use both THM’s brand or Now brand, it just depends on where I’m ordering and sale prices.

Instructions
  1. Place root beer, almond milk, collagen, stevia, and salt in blender. Blend on low, slowly add glucomannan and blend for about 30 seconds. Stop blending and add in ice cubes and then blend until completely smooth.
  2. Makes 1 quart.
  3. Can also be put in dessert cups with additional root beer for more of a traditional root beer float.

Caramel Apple Good Girl Moonshine is the newest drink that I have been enjoying. It’s so good to be able have healthy, refreshing drinks around to keep me satisfied and to ward off any snack attacks.

I put just a couple of pinches of ginger in this drink, but feel free to add more if you like.

  • 2 Caramel Apple tea bags (Celestial Seasonings)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1½ tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon of Now Brand Better Stevia or 2 "doonks" of THM Stevia Extract
  • 2 pinches of ground ginger
  • ice and more water
Instructions

After making my Frosted Lemonade, I began to think of all the different combinations of flavors that would be good in this shake! First up – Frosted Strawberry Lemonade! This is such a fun combination and so refreshing!

If you aren’t used to using glucomannan, it is a healthy starch that is very low-carb and adds a thickening, light creamy texture to the shake. I haven’t seen it in stores yet, but you can find it at Amazon or Trim Healthy Mama. You can make the shake without it, you will lose a little of the creamy effect. I have read where xanthan gum could be used as a substitute, but I haven’t tried that personally.

The collagen is optional, using it will give you some good protein and it has so many health benefits. It can be found at Amazon or Trim Healthy Mama, as well.

I use almond milk nearly everyday and there are times when I run out, but can’t get to the store right away to get more.  I recently saw a recipe for tahini milk made with water and tahini and thought that it should work with almond butter, too. I usually have almond butter in the fridge or pantry, so this is my new way to make homemade almond milk. It’s incredibly easy to make and doesn’t require any straining or nut bags like you need when making almond milk from almonds.

Just water and sugar-free almond butter and you are all set to make the easiest homemade almond milk. I usually buy Costco’s Kirkland brand sugar-free almond butter or Zinke Orchards.  I’ve listed a few more ingredients in the recipe, like sunflower lecithin, xanthan gum, stevia, or salt, but you can leave those out if you don’t have them on hand. They do add to the overall texture and taste of the almond milk, though.

I’ll probably still buy almond milk, but when I run out or just want to cut back on groceries, I’ll be making it this easy way.

  1. Put water in blender first and then add all the other ingredients. Blend for 1 minute.
  2. Store in glass jar in refrigerator. Shake before using.
Notes
You can make almond milk using only the water and almond butter, but the other ingredients help give it a better texture and taste.

Recently our family stopped at a Chick-Fil-A and we were given a free Frosted Lemonade because they had accidentally made an extra one. Funny thing was we couldn’t eat it because of –you guessed it– the dairy. So, when I came across a copycat recipe on Pinterest, I decided to make one that’s dairy and sugar-free.

I have no idea how close it is to the original, but I think it’s yummy, creamy and refreshing! I love using metal straws with my drinks it makes the drinks extra special!

For you Trim Healthy Mamas, this drink is an FP.

So, I thought to help everyone out, I’d put together a Good Girl Moonshine Recipe Roundup of some of the most popular variations for “GGMS” and some tips and tricks to making this a drink that you will love.

This drink has been around for years, its often been called Haymaker’s Punch or Switchel, but Pearl and Serene from Trim Healthy Mamas coined it’s newest name, Good Girl Moonshine. It’s a wonderful all-day sipper that helps keep you hydrated and nourishes your body with it’s healthy ingredients.

This drink is a perfect substitution for sodas! It has a pleasant zing and can keep the “snack attacks” away.

Tips and Tricks for making Good Girl Moonshine:

  • If you aren’t sure if you like the taste of ginger, just put a few shakes of powdered ginger in your drink and then slowly adjust it over time to get up to a teaspoon of it in your drink. Read about the health benefits of ginger here.
  • Use raw apple cider vinegar “with the mother” like Bragg Organic ACV. You should be able to find it in your local grocery store. Since apple cider vinegar is rather tart, start off with the smaller amount and work your way up to get used to it.
  • When drinking apple cider vinegar throughout the day it’s best to use straws. It helps keep the acid from the ACV off of your teeth. Our favorite straws are these metal straws or plastic straws. The metal straws come with a wire cleaner, but for the plastic straws I use this straw cleanerACV can actually whiten your teeth, but should be rinsed off.   • If you’d like your GGMS to be fizzier you can add carbonated water or sparkling water to your recipe.

You can find the original Trim Healthy Mama Good Girl Moonshine recipe on their website along with several other recipes.

This version of the Good Girl Moonshine adds in some lemon juice for a delightful, healthy lemonade. This is a sipper drink in that it can be sipped on throughout the day. I also have the Strawberry Lemonade version listed in the recipe, but this one should be drank in a shorter time period, due to the carbs in the strawberries. If you prefer to keep it a sipper drink, but still want the strawberry flavor, add a few whole strawberries to the drink.

  • 2-3 small strawberries
Instructions
  1. Put the apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, lemon juice and stevia in a quart size ball jar and then add desired amount of ice and fill the jar with water. Stir and enjoy.
  2. This is a sipper drink that you can enjoy throughout the day.
Strawberry Lemonade Good Girl Moonshine
  1. Blend strawberries in blender with about 1 cup of water. Add to the above mixture. With the strawberries blended in the drink this adds a small amount of carbs and should not be sipped on throughout the day, but rather enjoyed in a smaller amount of time.

This is the most popular drink I make in our house. If I ask if anyone in my family if they want a Raspberry Good Girl Moonshine, everyone answers with a YES! It is such a refreshing and fun drink and so good for you. However, everyone likes them just a little bit different – maybe a little more apple cider vinegar for one or a little less ginger for another, so I came up with an easy way to make them to everyone’s liking.

Tips and tricks to making Raspberry Good Girl Moonshine:

  • Put a different colored rubberband around each glass and remember who has what color. Don’t forget this step like I did for the above pictures or you might have to taste test each one to see whose is whose.
  • Use raw apple cider vinegar “with the mother” like Bragg Organic ACV. You should be able to find it in your local grocery store.
  • If you aren’t sure if you like the taste of ginger just put a few shakes of powdered ginger in your drink and then slowly adjust it over time to get up to a teaspoon of it in your drink.
  • Put apple cider vinegar, sweetener, and ginger in each jar.
  • Blend 1 tablespoon of raspberries for each person along with a cup of water. Blend until berries are smooth.
  • Pour equal amounts of the blended raspberries into each jar.
  • Top off  each jar with water or water and ice and stir.
  • You can use straws to make them more festive and to keep the apple cider vinegar from getting on your teeth too much. Our favorite straws are metal straws or these plastic straws shown in the picture. The metal straws come with a wire cleaner, but for the plastic straws I use this straw cleaner.
  • If you really want to kick this up a notch you can use carbonated water in place of regular water.

Ingredients for one drink:
Instructions
  1. Get out the number of ball jars you will need and put 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in each jar.
  2. Sprinkle a few shakes of ginger in each jar.
  3. Put 1 tablespoon of raspberries per drink in a blender with 1 cup of water. Blend until smooth. Pour evenly into each ball jar.
  4. Add in stevia and stir to combine.
  5. Fill jar with water or water and ice. Stir and enjoy.

I have been wanting a good dairy-free eggnog recipe for a few years now. After trying the cashew milk in my hot chocolate recipe, I thought this might be just the thing for a creamy dairy-free eggnog.

This turned out wonderfully!  To me, eggnog makes the Christmas season more festive!  This eggnog is also sugar free, so enjoy without any guilt.

Tips for making Eggnog – Dairy Free, Sugar Free:

  • Cashew milk works really well in this recipe, it’s so creamy. You could use almond milk, but it won’t be as creamy.
  • Put all the ingredients in the pan before heating it up. Then as you heat it, keep whisking so that the egg whites won’t separate and curdle.
  • The sunflower lecithin is optional. If you like your eggnog warm than it isn’t really necessary, but if you want to chill your eggnog, you will want to add the sunflower lecithin. It will keep the coconut oil from separating and getting hard.

Eggnog - Dairy Free, Sugar Free

Serves: 1 serving
Ingredients
  • 1 cup cashew milk
  • ⅓ cup egg whites (carton)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1½ teaspoon Sweet Blend or homemade sweetener*
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon rum extract
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon sunflower lecithin (optional - see note)
  • 1 tablespoon collagen (optional)
Instructions
  1. Put all ingredients in a medium saucepan and then turn burner on medium-low heat. Whisk ingredients continuously while warming up. Keep whisking. The eggs could separate and curdle if you don't keep whisking. When it's warm and the coconut oil has melted it's done. Serve warm.
  2. If you add the sunflower lecithin it can also be chilled.
Notes
If you like your eggnog cold, be sure to add the sunflower lecithin. It will keep the coconut oil from separating and getting hard in the refrigerator.

*homemade sweetener - Mix together 1 cup erythritol + 1 teaspoon stevia
