Special Ingredients:
If you haven’t used glucomannan before, it’s a healthy starch that is very low carb and adds a thickening, light creamy texture to the shake. I haven’t seen it in stores yet, but you can find it at Amazon. You can make the shake without it, but you’ll lose a little of the creamy effect and since we’re doing this dairy-free we need all the creaminess we can get. I have read where xanthan gum could be used as a substitute, but I haven’t tried that personally.
The collagen is optional, but using it will give you a good serving of protein and it has so many health benefits. My favorite brands of collagen are Custom Collagen and Integral Collagen.
Trim Healthy Mamas this drink is an FP.

This sounds so yummy. We will be making this one for sure. Thanks Robin.
MamaShire
Christa, your son will thank you! 🙂

I used xanthum gum in place of the other thickener and it worked perfectly. Great recipe!!
MamaShire
Good to know, thanks!
Barbara Hogate
Just made this but added more stevia because my husband can’t handle any tartness. We loved it and will be making this often. Had some left overs which I froze in ice cube trays
Rhonda Devine
I’ve had that frosted lemonade at Chick-Fil-A and it is delicious–but Herb makes a healthier version at home for me;)
MamaShire
That’s so sweet of Herb!
Brenda
Sipping it now!! So very delicious! I just heard about Chick-Fil-A frosted lemonades and was really hankering to try one but being a THM’er knew it wasn’t going to happen….. THANK YOU!!!!
MamaShire
You are so welcome! So glad that you like it!
Shireen
This looks yummy! Would this be a FP?
MamaShire
Hi Shireen, yes, it is an FP.
Teresa
How much almond milk?
MamaShire
Hi, Teresa. The recipe calls for 2/3 cup of almond milk.
Kayla
How impotant is the gluco? Its something I haven’t purchased yet
MamaShire
Hi Kayla. The gluccie will help give a creamier texture and thicken it a bit. You can make it without, the texture just will be a different.
Cwise
So if I added a bit of thm protein powder instead of collegian would it still be a FP? I can’t have collegian due to autoimmune disease where i make too much on my own.
MamaShire
Yes, it would still be an FP!
Charlotte Queen
Can you use xantham instead of gluccie?
MamaShire
Hi Charlotte, I haven’t tried xanthan gum yet, but I have heard of others using it. If you try it let me know how it works.
Andrea
Sounds yummy! Will have to try it! I had a horrible allergic reaction to the collagen- had hives for 2 weeks! So obviously I’ll omit it, would you sub 2 TBS protein powder? Or just leave it out?
MamaShire
Oh, that’s so sad! Allergic reactions can really be awful. You could sub in the protein powder if you like. It may change the taste slightly, but would probably still be good. It would be okay to leave it out as well, you just wouldn’t be getting the protein to make it a good, hearty snack.
Tessa
This was delicious! Are used Whey powder for the collagen, instead of the gluconnoman I used flax meal, and used the full fat coconut milk and some water instead of the almond milk. I also added some raw cauliflower, which you can’t even taste! Really yummy, thank you
Bethany
Just made this with almond milk and it curdled in the blender from the lemon. Is that normal? Or okay to drink? Are there tips around this?
MamaShire
Hi Bethany, I’m sorry that you’ve had trouble with the recipe. Be sure to add all the ingredients and mix according to the directions. I haven’t had the milk curdle before so I’m not sure exactly why it’s happening.
Kim
I just put this together and, believe you me, I’ll be making it again!! I also added powdered MCT oil. I’ll also cut back on the salt next time as I can taste it. Love so many of your recipes. Thanks for all you do!!?
MamaShire
Thank you! So glad to help.
DavetteB
this looks so yummy! I will be smuggling this to the movies; I usually get a frozen lemonade. (they actually do let you bring in diet food) May add some strawberry extract to make strawberry lemonade.
MamaShire
That sounds like fun!
Teresa
My husband is allergic to nuts. Could I use coconut milk or some other milk substitute?
MamaShire
Yes, you could use coconut milk. It would put it in the S category for Trim Healthy Mama. I’ve never tried it, but you could try hemp or rice milk.
Emily
I really enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing!
MamaShire
You’re so welcome!

Delicious! Tart. Great for hot weather days!

Made it without the glucomannan, collagen or boabab. Added a splash of hwc at the end of blending. Delicious!
Charlene
Where do you get the straws? Thanks!!
MamaShire
Hi Charlene, I purchased mine from Amazon. There is a link for the ones I have in the second paragraph.
