Copycat Orange Julius Dairy-free, Gluten-free, Sugar-free, THM-E

Now that summer’s in full swing and the temperatures are warming up, we’ve been enjoying these frosty orange drinks almost everyday. It’s so nice to come in from working outside and be able to quickly make this drink to cool off. It tastes like an orange julius from that popular ice cream fast food chain.

Copycat Orange Julius Dairy-free, Gluten-free, Sugar-free, THM-E

I add a scoop of collagen peptides to this drink to get some extra protein and health benefits in my diet, but if I’m planning on sharing this drink with one of my daughters, I’ll add 2 scoops to make sure we both get a good serving of collagen.

Copycat Orange Julius Dairy-free, Gluten-free, Sugar-free, THM-E

Another thing I love about this drink is that by adding in the orange with lots of the white pith still attached it provides more than a full serving of vitamin C. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m much more likely to drink this fun drink than to peel an orange and eat it. I quarter the orange and run a paring or tomato knife just under the peel to leave as much of the white pith on as possible. When I’ve got all the other ingredients mixed up, I’ll add the orange quarters to the blender with the ice cubes. Pour into a quart jar or two pint jars. Enjoy and be refreshed!

These stainless steel straws make it easy to make your drink extra special and you won’t ever run out of those plastic straws.

Frosted Vanilla Blackberry Lemonade Dairy-free, Sugar-free, Low-Carb, THM-FP

Blackberries are so yummy and they contain an incredible amount of nutrients that it would be good to have them in your diet on a regular basis. One cup of blackberries contains half the daily recommended amount of Vitamin C. These beautiful dark blackberries are extra high in polyphenols, which are a type of antioxidant known for their cancer-fighting abilities.

Frosted Vanilla Blackberry Lemonade Dairy-free, Sugar-free, Low-Carb, THM-FP

I add glucomannan to this recipe to give it a more creamy texture. If you don’t have glucomannan you can make this drink without it, but it will have more of an icy texture.

Frosted Vanilla Blackberry Lemonade Dairy-free, Sugar-free, Low-Carb, THM-FP

This recipe calls for a scoop of collagen for added protein, it will help satisfy your appetite longer. Collagen also has many health benefits. When I use it I can tell a difference in my joints, they will feel better, less noticeable and my hair and nails grow stronger and longer.

I started making frosty drinks when I first started following Trim Healthy Mama a few years ago. Never to leave a recipe alone, I started dabbling around with different flavor combinations and I was hooked. These drinks are so refreshing and so good for you.

Frosted Raspberry Lemonade - Delicious and refreshing! Dairy-free, sugar-free, low-carb, gluten-free! THM-FP

I’ve been creating several different flavors and whichever one I’m drinking is my favorite. I’ve included a list at the bottom of the post with some of my other drinks.

Frosted Raspberry Lemonade - Delicious and refreshing! Dairy-free, sugar-free, low-carb, gluten-free! THM-FP

A few years ago some dear friends gave us some of their extra red raspberry bushes. At the time I wasn’t thrilled about the idea because I had grown up enjoying my grandmother’s black raspberry pie that she made from the wild black raspberry bushes that were in our woods. I thought they were the only “good” raspberry. While I still think black raspberries are amazing, I have come to appreciate these red beauties more and more. They’re incredibly low in carbs like most all berries, and they’re so healthy for you.

Frosted Raspberry Lemonade - Delicious and refreshing! Dairy-free, sugar-free, low-carb, gluten-free! THM-FP

This recipe makes one-quart serving, but if it’s too big you can share half of it with a loved one. If you decide to divide the recipe and share it, I suggest you double the amount of collagen so that there is a good serving of collagen in both drinks.

For you Trim Healthy Mamas, this Frosted Raspberry Lemonade is an FP and is best enjoyed within the first 30-45 minutes of making.

Frosted Mocha - Dairy-free, Sugar-free, Low-Carb, THM-FP

This Frosted Mocha is a delicious and satisfying drink. Perfect for a snack between meals or for a big dessert.

Tips for making Frosted Mocha:

  • Keep an eye on the carbs in your cocoa powder, some of them contain more carbs than others. I use raw cacao powder when I can for an added healthy benefit, but it isn’t necessary to enjoy this delightful drink.
  • The added collagen in this drink gives you a good amount of protein to help make this a more satisfying snack. THM Integral Collagen or Custom Collagen works well in this recipe. It’s also great for your skin and joints.
  • The glucomannan helps give this drink a creamy texture. Either THM Glucomannan or Now Glucomannan would work well.
  • This drink is best enjoyed within a half-hour of making.
  • I do use a Vitamix blender and so I have a tamper that I use to push down the ice while it’s blending. If you are using a different type of blender you may need to stop the blender occasionally and use a large spoon or rubber spatula to push down the ice.

Strawberries and lime complement each other in a delightful way in this slushy drink. You may have had a version of this at a drive-thru made with regular sugar-filled soda, but this healthy version is full of fruit and sweetened with only stevia.

If you want to make this a full snack add in the collagen for a nice serving of protein. Trim Healthy Mama Integral Collagen or Custom Collagen are my favorites.

Peach Good Girl Moonshine

Peach Good Girl Moonshine - Sugar-free, Low-carb

Quick and easy to make!

Peach Good Girl Moonshine is so delightful and refreshing. It’s a perfect summertime drink and the only thing you need to go along with it is…..a hammock or an ENO. Have you seen ENOS? They are a type of hammock that you can put up anywhere. We were able to visit with some dear friends over the 4th of July and they were telling us about their new ENOS and how much fun they were having with them. I seriously want one… or four.

Picture this peachy, ice-cold drink in a hammock with good company or a good book. Or maybe, with just the good company on the back porch.

Not only is this drink delicious, it’s an all-day sipper!  All-day sippers are drinks that don’t have any fuel that your body would need to burn or store. No fat, no carbs, no protein. Just refreshing goodness and good for you ingredients!

Trim Healthy Mamas this is an FP all-day sipper.

Trim Healthy Mamas this frosty is an E. If you make this recipe into popsicles, it would make a popsicle an FP, since the whole recipe is just a tiny bit over the carb limit for FP. Yay!

White Root Beer Frosty - Dairy-free, Sugar-free

A new twist on an old favorite – Root Beer Float becomes a White Root Beer Frosty featuring Zevia Ginger Root Beer!

Recently Zevia started making their drinks clear – no caramel coloring!

Zevia sodas don’t contain sugar, use non-GMO ingredients, and contains no phosphoric acid! Yay! You can read more about Zevia’s ingredients on their website. I’ve been able to find Zevia’s at my local grocery store and they are often on sale! Zevia’s Zero Calorie Sodas are making my sugar-free life a little easier.

  • This recipe calls for collagen, it’s optional to add in, but it does add protein and makes this treat much more nutritious. My favorite brands are THM’s Integral Collagen or Custom Collagen through Amazon, since this isn’t an item that is normally at your local grocery store you would need to order it, it’s just a matter of where you like to order from.
  • The glucomannan gives this treat a creamier texture. And again I use both THM’s brand or Now brand, it just depends on where I’m ordering and sale prices.

Strawberry Banana Frosty - Dairy-free - Sugar-free

Strawberry Banana Frosty - Dairy-free - Sugar-free

Strawberry Banana Frosty - Dairy-free - Sugar-free

I remember when I was younger my mom and I stopping by my future husband’s home and visiting with him. We had just stopped at Dairy Queen and picked up a strawberry banana shake – my favorite. I remember us all standing by his front porch and talking while I was sipping on that shake and thinking he is so handsome. It’s funny how food can be so attached to a memory isn’t it?

Now days I keep away from dairy and sugar so I had to come up with a replacement. This shake brings me right back to that summery day years ago and it’s still so yummy. Plus, now I can serve it to that handsome man I married and feel good about giving him a good, healthy treat.

  • I add collagen in my drinks to get an extra boost of nutrition and protein. It’s optional, but I think you would like it. You can read about all the benefits of collagen at Dr. Axe’s site. I recommend Custom Collagen or THM Integral Collagen.
  • I also add glucomannan to my shake to help thicken it up a little and give it a bit of creaminess. Without having cow-dairy you have to work a little harder to get that lovely creamy effect and the glucomannan really helps with that. Be careful to add it slowly to your foods when you use it, as it can clump up if not. It’s a healthy, no-carb, starch and a little goes a long way. I recommend Now Glucomannan or THM Glucomannan

Strawberry Banana Frosty photography

I wanted to add this photo to my post to give you a little peak at what happens when I am doing a photoshoot for my recipes. My youngest daughter, Emily Rose, is an excellent photographer and has been teaching me the ins and outs of phototgraphy. Often times when I get my food all set up for a shoot, she’ll go grab her camera and have some fun shooting, too. I found this photo on her camera capturing me “trying” to get the right shot. When you see an excellent photo on my blog, just know that it’s probably her work.
