Welcome to MamaShire!
I hope that you look around and find recipes that will bring delight to your table and add health to your family.
My cooking credentials – When I was first married my husband and I realized very quickly that I didn’t know how to cook. Rob didn’t seem to mind and he would laugh at how I would try to camouflage the burnt chicken patties that I would make for him. I began pouring over Taste of Home magazines and in time cooking became a joy and it tasted good too, plus no more burnt meals!
Then one day, seven years ago, my daughters and I had to go on a gluten-free diet and all my cooking knowledge flew out the window. I was lost in the kitchen again and had to learn how to cook everything differently. It now is completely normal for me to cook gluten-free, but wow, what a learning curve.
Three years ago I learned about the Trim Healthy Mama plan of eating and fell in love with it. I feel the healthiest when I am eating on plan with Trim Healthy Mama.
Recipes – The recipes here on my blog with be Gluten-free, Dairy-free (there will be sheep cheese occasionally), Sugar-free, mostly Grain-free and on plan with Trim Healthy Mama.
Photography – There is a mixture of photos taken by me and my daughter, Emily Rose. She has such a wonderful talent with photography and graphic design, she makes everything look better. Just know the pictures that are beautiful are from her hand. She also designed my blog!
Work – In 2011 I started Clementine Patterns with the help of my daughters, Breezy & Emily Rose (and you should really check out Breezy’s Instagram account, she’s an award winning children’s book illustrator – it’s pretty adorable). It’s been a labor of love creating and stitching hand embroidery patterns and kits that speak words of truth and encouragement along with beautiful designs created by my daughters.
In September of 2015 this blog, MamaShire, was started as a way to share allergen friendly Trim Healthy Mama recipes and a place that my daughters could find my recipes. I have a bad habit of writing out partial recipes and not having a good place to find them, so this blog helps me keep everything in order and fully written.
Family life -The past year has been an incredibly hard year for my family. Last September (2016), my darling husband of 33 years went home to be with the Lord. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and exactly 4 weeks later he passed away. It was the hardest month of our lives and the months that have followed have been the saddest we have ever experienced.
Rob loved me and our girls well and he loved Jesus. During those four intense weeks he would often talk about how blessed we had been and that he was resting in the Lord’s timing. Even when he couldn’t really talk much towards the end, he still would try to speak words of love and encouragement. We miss him so, so very much.
The Lord has been so faithful to comfort us and provide for us. My daughters and I have been blessed by so many kind and generous acts of love throughout all this hard trial. We appreciate your love and prayers.
